Corleone Devone Lewis, a 40-year-old African American man from Dayton, OH, tragically lost his life on February 9, 2020. He was known for his contributions as a loving father, son, and a prominent figure in his community. Lewis was a graduate of Jefferson High School and had a successful career as the CEO of Brim Entertainment in Atlanta, GA, and the owner of Lewis Real Estate Company.
On the day of his death, Lewis was attempting to break up an argument on the front porch of a home on
South Broadway Street in Dayton. The altercation escalated when Dayveon Johnson, a 30-year-old man, allegedly pulled out a gun and fired two shots, hitting Lewis and another person. Lewis was fatally wounded and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Dayveon Johnson was later arrested and charged with murder and felonious assault. A grand jury indicted Johnson on two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and other weapons charges. His bond was set at $1 million, and he faced a court date on March 12, 2020.
The tragic incident left the community in mourning, as Lewis was remembered for his contagious smile and giving heart. His family, friends, and the entire community continue to honor his memory and seek justice for his untimely death.
