Marquis T. Talley, a 27-year-old Black male from Columbus, OH, tragically died on August 9, 2020, after being shot the previous night. On August 8, 2020, at approximately 10:28 PM, Patrol Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert of eight shots fired in the area of 2077 Joyce Avenue. They discovered a vehicle stopped in the area of Maynard Avenue, just west of Joyce Avenue, with one occupant suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Mifflin Township Medic 132 responded and transported Talley to an undisclosed hospital in extremely critical condition. Despite medical efforts, Talley succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:01 AM on August 9, 2020.
The incident is being investigated by the Columbus Police Department as an unsolved homicide. The case remains open, and law enforcement continues to seek information from the public to identify suspects and gather evidence. The Ohio Attorney General's Office has also highlighted this case as part of their cold case initiative, urging anyone with information to come forward.
