Christina Shere Perry, a 35-year-old woman from Columbus, OH, tragically lost her life on October 25, 2020, due to a road rage shooting. She was driving her 13-year-old son, Shamille, to his father's house after a basketball game when Ricky Williams Jr., a 24-year-old man from Columbus' South Side, shot into her car. Williams claimed he "lost control" and shot Perry because she wasn't driving fast enough for his liking.
This incident occurred on Studer Avenue on the city's South Side.
Williams was charged with murder and attempted murder for killing Perry and shooting at another woman, Kristin Allen, the following day. He pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 22 years. Additionally, Williams' girlfriend, Michaela Payne, was charged with unlawful transactions in weapons for purchasing firearms for Williams and his father, who also could not legally possess guns. Payne pleaded guilty to five of the charges and was sentenced to three years of community control .
