Robert R. Fentress, a 33-year-old African American man from Garfield Heights, tragically died on February 1, 2021, in Independence, Ohio. He was shot while driving on I-480 near I-77 and later succumbed to his injuries at the scene despite efforts by officers to administer first aid. The incident occurred when shots were fired from an unknown vehicle at Fentress's car, causing him to crash into a guardrail.
