Death by Force

Dionte Atwater, a 32-year-old man from Cleveland, OH, was fatally shot on July 11, 2022, while attempting to break up an assault. According to Cleveland Police, Atwater intervened when a suspect began assaulting a 28-year-old woman inside a residence on East 176th Street. During the altercation, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Atwater in the body before fleeing the scene. Despite the prompt arrival of officers and their efforts to render aid, Atwater was pronounced dead at the scene.
