On December 25, 1929, in Germanton, North Carolina, a tragic event unfolded that would become known as the Lawson family massacre. James Lawson, a four-year-old boy, was one of the victims. His father, Charles Davis Lawson, a 43-year-old sharecropper, murdered his wife, Fannie Lawson, and six of their seven children before taking his own life.
