Robert Young Clement, a 32-year-old male police officer with the Spencer Police Department in North Carolina, tragically died on October 19, 1997. Officer Clement was shot while attempting to serve six warrants at a residence on Tanglewood Drive in East Spencer. During the incident, shots were exchanged between the officers and the suspect, resulting in Officer Clement being struck in the abdomen and neck. The other officer involved was shot in the leg.
