James Earl Freeman, also 46, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
He was captured on June 21, 2007, in the Outer Banks after a tip led police to his location. Freeman attempted to flee but was apprehended without incident. Sharlene Freeman had recently filed a protective order against her husband, indicating a history of domestic issues.
