Kevin Dejon Grissett, a 25-year-old African American male from Fayetteville, North Carolina, lost his life in the early hours of February 1, 2014, following a high-speed police chase in Hope Mills. The incident began around 1 a.m. when law enforcement attempted to stop a 1993 Cadillac in connection with a drug investigation. Instead of pulling over, Grissett fled, leading officers on a pursuit that ended on National Drive, off Snow Hill Road.
In a desperate attempt to evade capture, he rammed his vehicle into two law enforcement cars, prompting officers to open fire.
