Britny Jordan Puryear, a 22-year-old woman from Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, tragically passed away on November 6, 2014. Britny, who was a young mother, was found with a gunshot wound to the head at her home on Bridge Street. Her death was initially reported by her boyfriend, Logan Connail McLean, who claimed that the shooting was accidental. However, further investigation revealed that Britny had been shot at close range, leading to suspicions of foul play.
Logan Connail McLean, who was 23 years old at the time, was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. McLean and Britny had been dating for about four years and had a young son together. During the investigation, it was uncovered that Britny had suffered abuse at the hands of McLean, which her family only learned about after her death. McLean was on probation for a drug charge at the time of the incident and was not legally allowed to possess a firearm.
In March 2016, Logan Connail McLean pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Britny's death. During the court proceedings, Britny's family and friends provided emotional testimony, sharing memories of her as an athletic, hard-working, and loving young woman. The court sentenced McLean to a prison term of between 26.4 and 32.7 years. Britny's family has since been vocal about raising awareness of domestic violence, hoping to prevent similar tragedies from occurring.
