In the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 4, 2014, a violent incident unfolded on the east side of Detroit involving 67-year-old Donald Cecil Bradshaw, a White / Caucasian male known locally by the nicknames "Meat Man" or "Peanut Man." Around 1:40 a.m., Bradshaw was in a commercial district situated on Beaufait Street near East Vernor Highway when he was targeted in a brutal attack.
According to reports from the time, Bradshaw was beaten to death inside his own vehicle, a 2002
Mercury Grand Villager. Following the assault, he was discovered lying in the street, having been pulled from the car during the altercation. The perpetrators fled the scene with his vehicle, which authorities later located elsewhere; it had been firebombed in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence.
Despite the severity of the crime and the specific details regarding the location and timing, the case did not yield immediate results in terms of apprehensions. In the months following the murder, Crime Stoppers listed the homicide as unsolved and offered a cash reward for information leading to an arrest. As of the available records from that period, no suspects had been taken into custody, and no charges were filed in connection with Donald Bradshaw's death.
