The homicide of Derick Blanton, a 27-year-old resident of Detroit, Michigan, occurred on May 5, 2016, in what authorities later identified as a drive-by shooting. Blanton was in his vehicle, driving in a neighborhood on Detroit's west side when the tragic event unfolded.
