In the evening hours of Thursday, September 29, 2016, Haider Alamery, a 28-year-old male of Arab American descent, was the victim of a fatal carjacking in the Warrendale neighborhood of Detroit. Known affectionately as 'Curly' to his friends and clients, Alamery was a popular barber in the nearby city of Dearborn, where he had graduated from Dearborn High School and later attended Henry Ford College.
