Bridgette, who was born on October 29, 1995, was the daughter of Jack "Sonny" Burford and Sherry Ann McLean Burford. She was employed at Food Lion in Yanceyville and was known for her vibrant personality and dedication to her family and work.
On the fateful day of May 7, 2016, Bridgette and her mother, Sherry Ann Burford, were found unresponsive in their home on Shady Lane near
Gibsonville. Both women had suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred around 4:15 a.m., and authorities quickly launched an investigation into the double homicide.
The primary suspect in the case was identified as 24-year-old Camiah Tylequis Walker of Burlington. Walker, who shared a child with a third victim, Courtney Michele Lunsford, was believed to have committed the murders and kidnapped Lunsford from the scene. Lunsford was later found unharmed by the Thomasville Police Department.
Walker was apprehended at the Red Carpet Inn in Burlington after an anonymous tip led authorities to his location. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of felony violation of a domestic violence protective order with a deadly weapon, and one count of misdemeanor violation of a domestic violence protective order. Walker is currently being held in the Caswell County Detention Facility without bond, and additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
