She was born on November 26, 1958, in Pitt County, NC, to Irene Simms and the late Booker T. Speight, Sr. Karen was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who left behind a large family, including her mother, one son, two daughters, five brothers, two sisters, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
