According to reports, Ross was shot outside and ran into a house for help, where he ultimately collapsed and was pronounced dead at the scene.
This marked Charlotte's 31st homicide of the year.

Despite the efforts of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to canvass the neighborhood and search for witnesses, no arrests have been made in connection with Ross's murder. A candlelight vigil was organized by the "Dream Team for Peace" to honor Ross's memory and to call for information that could help solve the case.
