He was a beloved member of his community, known for his infectious smile and charming personality. Brennan was an avid basketball player and had a special love for children.
He was educated in the Lee County School System and graduated from Lee County Senior High School in 2012.
On the night of August 4, 2017, Brennan McNeil was found dead at 220 Oak Hollow Lane in Sanford, NC. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene by deputies. Rayshaad Le'Sedric Smith, a 23-year-old male from Durham, NC, was arrested and charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Smith was held in the Lee County Jail without bond.
Further investigation revealed the involvement of two more individuals in Brennan's murder. Andrew Leron Cash, 24, and his brother, Aubrey Jamal Cash, 22, both from Semora, NC, were arrested and charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of kidnapping. Both men were also held in the Lee County Jail without bond.
