Isaac Jermaine Hawk, a 31-year-old African American male from Corapeake, NC, was found shot to death outside his home on Adams Swamp Road on December 22, 2018. Gates County deputies responded to the scene early that Saturday morning and discovered Hawk's body. Multiple witnesses reported that the suspects were in Hawk's driveway when the shooting occurred.
The community, typically quiet, was shaken by the incident, with neighbors recalling hearing gunshots and a car speeding away.
Three suspects were arrested in connection with Hawk's murder: Terrell Parker, 31, Dominique Hathaway, 28, and Marcus Walton, 31. The suspects were charged with open murder after being detained by Suffolk police. Witnesses placed the suspects at the scene during the shooting, and an altercation between Hawk and the suspects led to the fatal incident. The Gates County Sheriff's Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation conducted interviews and gathered evidence to support the charges.
