Diamond Brooks Lee, a 39-year-old woman from Pikeville, NC, was found dead on March 27, 2019, alongside her 58-year-old mother, Mary Lee. Both women were discovered inside their home at 450 Perkins Road, having died from gunshot wounds to the chest. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office concluded their investigation, determining that the deaths were either a murder-suicide or a suicide pact, as no evidence suggested the involvement of a third party.
