Lacoria Zhanae Cox, a 20-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on March 3, 2020, in Pikeville, North Carolina. The incident occurred just before midnight on Mount Carmel Church Road, where deputies responded to a call from a man who reported that both he and a woman had been shot. Upon arrival, authorities found Lacoria Cox and a 23-year-old male victim inside a car, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
