Caitlyn Alexis Truax, an 18-year-old woman from Connelly Springs, North Carolina, tragically lost her life on June 3, 2019. Caitlyn, who was described as a loving and kind soul, was reportedly shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, Jeremy Shayne Baldridge, aged 22. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on McDuffy Road in Connelly Springs. According to reports, Baldridge had a history of threatening Caitlyn during their relationship, and on the night of the incident, he called her and threatened
to come over and shoot her. Shortly after, he carried out his threat, shooting Caitlyn in the driveway of her home.
Baldridge was arrested and charged with Caitlyn's murder. He reportedly admitted to the crime when deputies arrived at the scene, where they found him walking calmly in the area. A pistol was found on the ground near the road. Baldridge was cooperative with law enforcement officers and was taken into custody without incident. He appeared in court shortly after his arrest, where Caitlyn's family expressed their grief and anger, calling for the death penalty for Baldridge.
The investigation into Caitlyn's death revealed that Baldridge had previously been accused of breaking her cellphone and burning some of her property following a fight in December.
