Calvin Haines, a 24-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on June 12, 2019, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when Calvin and three other individuals were shot in the stairwell of an apartment building located at 305 N. Graham Street. Calvin succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

investigation into the shooting, which revealed that the incident took place during a graduation party held at the apartment building. The altercation that led to the shooting involved multiple individuals, resulting in the tragic death of Calvin Haines. The investigation identified two suspects, 19-year-old Marcus Joubert and 16-year-old Michael Sio-Somah, who were subsequently arrested and charged with murder. Joubert faced additional charges of shooting into occupied property, while Sio-Somah was charged solely with murder.
