Mitchell Allen Smith, a 34-year-old White male from Whiteville, North Carolina, was found dead on September 9, 2019. His body was discovered in the back seat of his vehicle off the roadway in the 14000 block of Swamp Fox Hwy East. Witnesses reported that Smith had an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The Columbus County Sheriff's Office conducted an exhaustive investigation, which led to the arrest of Lakeithy Gene Keller, a 48-year-old man who lived on Horace Cox Road, Tabor City, at the tim ...
