In the aftermath of the shooting, Raleigh police arrested 26-year-old Joshua
Jenkins, who was charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Jenkins was taken into custody and transported to the Wake County Detention Center. Additionally, 47-year-old James Edward Evans Jr. was arrested at the scene and charged with felony accessory after the fact to murder. Evans was given a $100,000 bond and also taken to the Wake County Detention Center.

On June 17, 2020, a third suspect, 46-year-old Aaron Orlando Forrest, was arrested and charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and discharging a weapon in an occupied dwelling or moving vehicle.
