Man shot and killed by another driver after car crash on Detroit's west side
DETROIT – A 26-year-old man was shot and killed by another driver after they were in a car crash on Detroit's west side. Demario Tompkins was driving a Burgundy minivan around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when he got into an accident with a light-colored Chevy Impala at the intersection of Tireman Avenue and the Southfield Freeway service drive. Police said after the crash, both drivers got out of their cars and got into an argument. The driver of the Impala pulled out a gun and shot Tompkins. The shooter got back into his car and drove away. Tompkins was killed. Police describe the shooter as a black man in his 30s with a dark complexion and a slim build. He was wearing a white T-shirt with red stripes and a dark-colored baseball cap. His Impala is a 2007 or 2008 model with passenger-side damage. Man shot, killed by driver that sideswiped his car
A 26-year-old man was shot and killed by the driver of another car that sideswiped his vehicle early Sunday on the city's west side, Detroit police said. Demario Tompkins of Detroit was driving a burgundy minivan at about 2:30 a.m. on the Southfield Freeway service drive at Tireman when a light-colored, 2007 or 2008 Chevrolet Impala struck his vehicle, said Officer Shanelle Williams, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department. The drivers of both vehicles got out and began arguing, she said. The driver of the Impala pulled out a handgun and fired a shot, striking and killing Tompkins. The gunman got back into his car and fled. The suspected gunman is described as a black man in his 30s with a dark complexion and a slim build. He was wearing a white T-shirt with red stripes and a dark baseball cap. The Impala is believed to have damage on the passenger side. Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit police at 596-2260 or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. A Gofundme account has been set up to help pay for Tompkins' funeral. According to the site, he was married and had two small children.

The family of a man shot and killed after a fender bender is pleading for help to find his killer. Demario Tompkins, 26, was killed early Sunday morning on Detroit's west side.
