Michael Lee Moore, a 36-year-old man from Cherryville, NC, was tragically killed on April 14, 2021. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on W.H. Kiser Road near Long Shoals. Moore was found shot and was subsequently taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Moore's death led to the identification and arrest of two suspects.
Marvin Christopher Neal, a 36-year-old man from Lincolnton, was charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held at the Gaston County Jail. The second suspect, Donald Christopher Wheeling, a 26-year-old man, was also charged with first-degree murder, felony fleeing to elude arrest, and possession of stolen property. Wheeling was arrested after attempting to flee from the police on a stolen motorcycle.
The Gaston County Police Department has been actively investigating the case and has urged anyone with information related to the ongoing investigation to contact Crimestoppers. Information leading to an arrest can result in a reward of up to $1,000. The case remains under investigation, and the authorities are working diligently to ensure justice is served for Michael Lee Moore.
