Christopher David "Chris" Ward, a 36-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on April 28, 2021, in Boone, North Carolina. Chris was a dedicated Sergeant with the Watauga County Sheriff's Office. He was conducting a welfare check at a residence on Hardaman Circle when he was fatally shot. The incident also claimed the life of K-9 Deputy Logan Fox, who was 25 years old.
