Frederick Lee, a 30-year-old man from Roanoke Rapids, NC, tragically lost his life on May 13, 2021. He was found shot inside his residence in the 300 block of Monroe Street. The police investigation revealed that Lee had been shot in the upper body and did not survive. The incident was quickly classified as a homicide, prompting an immediate investigation by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities identified several suspects.
Three individuals, Anthony Ty'Quan Shearin , Shantron Avondre Person , and Stepheon Jaqwan Ashe , were taken into custody. They were charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. The motive behind the crime was robbery, as the suspects allegedly wanted something that Lee possessed. Two other suspects, Shelvy Travon Edwards and Denzel Ashe , were still at large and considered armed and dangerous.
The case drew significant attention from law enforcement, with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office playing a crucial role in assisting the investigation. Lieutenant Roger Jenkins and his team were instrumental in piecing together the information that led to the arrests. The community was urged to come forward with any information that could aid in capturing the remaining suspects.
Lee's family was notified of the arrests, and the community mourned the loss of a young man whose life was cut short by a violent act. The investigation continued as authorities worked tirelessly to bring all those responsible to justice.
