In March of 2016, the life of 60-year-old Darvin Tennyson was tragically cut short in what would become a grim and unsettling case. The male victim was last seen returning to his home in Farmington Hills, a suburb of Detroit, MI, on March 19th. What happened in the hours that followed would remain a mystery for some time, but the discovery of his body would paint a horrific picture for investigators.
The following day, on March 20th, the Detroit Fire Department responded to a call about
a car fire on the city's east side. After extinguishing the flames that had engulfed the vehicle, firefighters made a gruesome discovery in the trunk: the body of Darvin Tennyson. The investigation into his death would span three years, a cold case that left a family searching for answers and justice.
In April of 2019, a major breakthrough in the investigation led to the arrests of two individuals surprisingly close to Darvin. His 67-year-old wife, Beatrice Flint-Tennyson, and her 46-year-old son from a previous relationship, Delbert Flint, were taken into custody. The mother and son were subsequently charged with open murder, tampering with evidence, and the disinterment and mutilation of a dead body. Authorities and family members believe the motive behind the heinous crime was a life insurance policy valued at nearly one million dollars. Darvin's relatives described his wife as a 'black widow' who was driven by greed. Following their arrests, both Beatrice Flint-Tennyson and Delbert Flint were arraigned and remanded to jail to await further legal proceedings.
