Shaun Thomas Prislusky, a 35-year-old man from Albemarle, North Carolina, tragically lost his life on April 12, 2022. The incident occurred when a gun unintentionally discharged, leading to his fatal injury. According to the Albemarle Police Department, officers responded to a call regarding a gunshot wound at 506 S. First St. around 2 p.m. on that fateful day. Upon arrival, they found Prislusky suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was immediately transported by Atrium Medevac helicopter to Atrium Stanly, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after landing.
The investigation revealed that the shooting was accidental. The gun that discharged was being handled by a second party known to Prislusky. This individual was not in possession of the gun when it discharged, and all parties involved have been identified. The incident did not occur inside the Stanly Community Christian Ministry building but rather in a wooded area behind it.
