Lisa N. Flinn, a 71-year-old woman from Hillsborough, NC, tragically passed away on July 12, 2022. Lisa was found dead inside a vehicle alongside her husband, William K. Flinn, aged 77. The Orange County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call made by William, in which he stated his intention to shoot his wife and then himself. Upon arrival, deputies discovered both individuals deceased inside the vehicle on Rippy Lane, just south of Hillsborough city limits. The incident has been classified as a possible murder-suicide.
Lisa Nevolene Flinn was a devoted wife, loving mother, creative writer, avid gardener, inventive cook, committed educator, and generous friend. Born on May 4, 1951, in Indianapolis, IN, she spent her formative years in Indiana and later moved to North Carolina. Lisa's dedication to education and community service was evident throughout her life. She taught K-12 as a reading specialist, focused on adult education, and established an adult literacy program in Hillsborough, NC. Lisa also co-authored numerous books and frequently volunteered at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church.
The investigation into the deaths of Lisa and William Flinn is being led by Sergeant Dylan Hendricks of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Authorities have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the community and have requested privacy for the family members as they process their loss.
