Sergeant Louis Henry Wagner II, aged 25, was a dedicated officer of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana. On June 3, 1978, he was tragically shot and killed in an ambush as he drove home from the sheriff's office. His body was discovered in front of a business along Louisiana 21, south of the Covington city limits. It is believed that the assailant hid in the rear of Wagner's pickup truck while it was parked at the sheriff's office and ambushed him as he drove home.
