On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at approximately 1:18 a.m., Leonard, a man known affectionately to his loved ones as 'Butchie,' was standing outside his home on Riad Street, located on the city's east side. In a sudden and violent ambush, an unknown individual appeared and opened fire, shooting Leonard multiple times as he stood in his driveway next to a rented car.
The assailant then fled the scene, leaving Leonard for dead. He did not survive the brutal attack.
Described by his family as a good man with a big heart, Leonard was remembered as being soft-spoken, focused, and goal-oriented. He was known for his generosity, someone who would give you his last.
