In the small town of Krotz Springs, Louisiana, the life of a young man, known affectionately as 'Little Ricky,' was cut short. James Ricky Guillory Jr., a 21-year-old male, was a member of the National Guard Youth Challenge Program in Carville. On Monday, November 4, 2013, his promising future was extinguished in a sudden act of violence.
An argument on that fateful day escalated, leading to a fatal encounter. Guillory was shot twice with a. 25-caliber handgun.
The person behind the trigger was identified as Odeal Lirette, a 67-year-old woman who lived nearby. The altercation, described by the Krotz Springs Police Chief as a 'heat-of-the-moment' act, had no other reported injuries, leaving a community in shock and mourning the loss of one of their own.
Following the shooting, Odeal Lirette was arrested and faced a charge of second-degree murder. She was subsequently booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail to await a bond hearing.
