In the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans, a young man's life was cut short on the evening of Monday, March 16, 2015. Steve G. Brackens III, an 18-year-old African-American male who had graduated from L.B. Landry High School just the year before, was standing in front of a house on the 1200 block of Sumner Street. He was engaged in conversation with two other males, aged 18 and 70.
