A 25-year-old man, Laron Rogers, was fatally shot on March 6, 2017. The incident that led to his death occurred outside a convenience store in Omaha, Nebraska, during what prosecutors described as a marijuana deal.
Forrest Cox III, a 30-year-old man, was identified as the suspect in the shooting. Following an investigation and legal proceedings, a jury found Cox guilty of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Laron Rogers.
In addition to the murder charge, Cox was also convicted on two weapons-related crimes. The verdict was delivered in Douglas County District Court. As a result of the conviction, Forrest Cox III was scheduled for sentencing and faced a mandatory life prison term.
