Devante Hogan, a 23-year-old male, was fatally shot at approximately 3:14 a.m. as he was walking to his car near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Canfield Street. The brazen attack left a family heartbroken and a community searching for answers.
Devante, known affectionately as 'Vante' to his loved ones, was described as a
fun-loving individual who was actively involved in sports, particularly boxing. His family remembers him as someone who could always bring a smile to your face and who didn't have any known enemies, making his targeted killing all the more perplexing and devastating. He was not known to be involved in street life, and his sudden and violent death left his family struggling to understand the motive behind the senseless act.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Detroit Police began their investigation, searching for an unknown gunman. Eyewitnesses reported that the suspect, who was wearing a green jacket, fled the scene in a white four-door Chevrolet Impala SS. Despite these details, the assailant remained at large.
