In the small town of Patterson, Louisiana, a heartbreaking incident unfolded late on a Friday night, forever altering the lives of a local family. On December 19, 2015, 13-year-old Trevon Isaiah Madise, a male student at Patterson Junior High School, died from a gunshot wound. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office was alerted to the sound of gunfire on Grandwood Drive shortly before midnight. A deputy who was in the vicinity for an unrelated matter was flagged down by concerned residents.
