In the early summer of 2016, the life of 57-year-old David Brue, a Black male resident of New Orleans, was tragically cut short. While his obituary recorded his date of passing as Tuesday, June 2, 2016, other sources, including the National Gun Violence Memorial, state he was lost to gun violence on Monday, June 6, 2016. A native of New Roads, Louisiana, Mr. Brue had made his home in New Orleans.
