In the late summer of 2016, the vibrant city of New Orleans was once again struck by violence, claiming the life of 32-year-old Tevis Curtis. A Black male, Curtis was fatally shot on the evening of Sunday, September 4th, in the Uptown area of the city. The incident was one of several violent acts that occurred over the Labor Day holiday weekend, leaving a mark on the community.
