In the late afternoon of September 29, 2016, a burst of violence shattered the peace on Faith Street in Roseland, Louisiana, leaving a young man dead and another wounded. The life of 21-year-old Kevin Griffin of Hammond was cut tragically short in the attack. He was an African American male. The incident unfolded around 4:45 p.m. when an unknown assailant, described as a light-skinned Black male with tattoos on his arm, arrived in a small white car, possibly a Mitsubishi.
The shooter
exited the vehicle and specifically targeted Griffin, opening fire and striking him. Another man, 25-year-old Devante Perry, was also hit by the gunfire. In the aftermath, Perry was reported to be in good and stable condition, but Griffin succumbed to his injuries. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
In the years that have followed, the investigation into Kevin Griffin's murder has grown cold. Despite the efforts of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office to pursue leads, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case continues to be an open and active investigation, with law enforcement urging anyone with information to come forward. The community was deeply affected by the loss of the young man, and his family continues their wait for justice.
