In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in May 2018, the Desire neighborhood of New Orleans was broken by the sound of gunfire. When police were called to the 3400 block of Ursula Spencer Way, they discovered a tragic scene. Inside a parked vehicle, two young men were found, both having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The victims were soon identified as 25-year-old Randy Joseph Green Jr., a male resident of New Orleans, and his companion, 23-year-old Lionel Clark.
Paramedics arrived at the location but could do nothing; both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Randy, who was known to friends and family, was just a few weeks shy of his 26th birthday. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office confirmed the identities of both victims, ruling their deaths as homicides. The double shooting sent ripples of grief through the community.
