In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a dispute that began earlier in the day tragically escalated, leading to the death of 26-year-old Jeremiah Hall. On September 9, 2018, Hall was shot in the 3500 block of Victoria Drive. He was transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to an earlier altercation between Hall and the brother of the man who would be arrested
for the crime. According to police reports, 20-year-old Tyree Richard learned of the dispute and went to the residence on Victoria Drive. An argument ensued, and Richard allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Hall. Another individual present at the scene was also shot and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The day after the fatal shooting, on September 10, 2018, the Baton Rouge Police Department arrested Tyree Richard in connection with the death of Jeremiah Hall. He was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of second-degree murder. Investigators believe the shooting was a direct result of the altercation that had occurred earlier in the day.
