In the late hours of a Tuesday in Crowley, Louisiana, a dispute at the Kathy Meadows Apartments ended in tragedy. On December 18, 2018, James Francis, a 66-year-old male, was found behind the apartment complex around 11 p.m. He had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner's Office.
Authorities believed the shooting stemmed from an argument or some other form of disturbance that occurred just prior to the discovery of his body.
The investigation into the death of James Francis led authorities to a single suspect. Following the incident, the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office began searching for the individual responsible. Their investigation pointed to 19-year-old Belvin Savoy. An argument between Savoy and Francis on the night of the shooting was identified as the catalyst for the fatal encounter.
After being featured by the Acadia Parish Crime Stoppers, Belvin Savoy was apprehended in early February 2019. He was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of James Francis.
