In the late summer of 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the life of 17-year-old Melvin Noah Jr. was tragically cut short. On Saturday, September 21, 2019, the young man, a student at George W. Carver Senior High School, was fatally wounded in an act of gun violence. The incident was part of a particularly violent weekend in the city, which saw a total of three fatalities and numerous other injuries from shootings, prompting local leaders to address the surge in bloodshed.
