On the evening of March 28, 2007, a young Black/African American man named James M. Williams, 24, was fatally shot in Boston. The incident occurred at approximately 5:22 p.m. at the corner of Blue Hill Avenue and Talbot Avenue in the Mattapan neighborhood. Officers from District 3 responded to a report of a person shot and found Williams at 870 Blue Hill Avenue suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency services transported Williams to Boston Medical Center, where he ultimately
succumbed to his injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined his manner of death to be a homicide. The Boston Police Homicide Unit opened an investigation into the shooting and publicly appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Despite the ongoing investigation, the death of James M. Williams is now considered an unsolved homicide. As of today, there have been no publicly announced arrests in the case, and no suspects have been officially named. The Boston Police Department continues to list James M. Williams in its log of unsolved homicides from 2007.
