In the early summer of 2007, the life of Hosteene Isaacs, a 39-year-old Black man from Dorchester, was cut short in a burst of violence. On the afternoon of June 3rd, at approximately 2:44 pm, police responded to a call of a person shot at 26 Leroy Street. Inside the residence, they found Isaacs suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
For two days, Isaacs fought for his life, but his injuries proved to be too severe. On June 5, 2007, he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined his death to be a homicide.
Homicide detectives from the Boston Police Department immediately began an active investigation into the shooting. Investigators stated that because the incident occurred indoors, they did not believe it was a random act of violence.
