In the quiet town of Bastrop, Louisiana, the life of 62-year-old Bobby Simmons was tragically cut short on November 16, 2021. On that Tuesday, Simmons, a male resident of the community, fell victim to fatal gun violence. The incident left the local community in shock and searching for answers that would prove to be elusive.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, details surrounding the circumstances of Simmons' death were scarce.
The Bastrop Police Department launched a homicide investigation, but the case quickly grew cold. No suspects were publicly identified, and no arrests were made in connection with the killing. The lack of progress in the investigation left a void in the community and a lingering sense of injustice for those who knew Simmons.
Nearly a year later, in August 2022, the investigation into Bobby Simmons' murder remained at a standstill. In an effort to generate new leads, the Bastrop Police Department made a public appeal for assistance. They urged anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, to come forward and help bring closure to the case. Despite this plea for community support, there have been no subsequent announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the ongoing investigation into the death of Bobby Simmons.
