In the early morning hours of September 6, 2022, the quiet town of Haughton, Louisiana, was disturbed by the sound of gunfire. Responding to a call at approximately 12:30 a.m., Haughton Police officers arrived at a residence in the 600 block of Alex Way. There, in the garage area of the home, they discovered 47-year-old Michael Allen Matthews, a male resident of Haughton, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport for medical attention, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene informed investigators that Matthews had been involved in an argument with another man, identified as 22-year-old Christopher Agee, Jr. The altercation escalated, culminating in Agee allegedly shooting Matthews and then fleeing the scene on foot. This act prompted a swift and extensive manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Haughton Police Department, the Bossier Sheriff's Department, and the Louisiana State Police.
The search for Agee concluded when he was located and apprehended without incident in the 100 block of West McKinley Avenue. Following his arrest, Christopher Agee, Jr. was charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. He was subsequently booked into the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Jail.
