In the early morning hours of September 6, 2022, the quiet town of Haughton, Louisiana, was disturbed by the sound of gunfire. Responding to a call at approximately 12:30 a.m., Haughton Police officers arrived at a residence in the 600 block of Alex Way. There, in the garage area of the home, they discovered 47-year-old Michael Allen Matthews, a male resident of Haughton, suffering from gunshot wounds.
