In the quiet community of Cecilia, Louisiana, a burst of violence on the evening of October 4, 2022, led to the tragic death of 19-year-old Markalon Batiste from the nearby city of Breaux Bridge. The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office received a call and dispatched deputies to the 1000 block of Madeline Boulevard, an area not far from Cecilia High School, shortly after 8:00 p.m.
